Family Picnic

Please remember that the PK Elementary Family Picnic is on Friday, April 3rd from 12:00 – 1:00.

Here are a few reminders to help the day go smoothly:
  • The picnic takes place on the North Field (site of the fall carnival).
  • Arrive early to find parking and a shady spot.
  • Bring a blanket or chairs and food for your family.
  • We will come out to the field at 12:00. Please meet us there, rather than in the classroom.
  • During the picnic, children should be with their families, not running around.
  • If you are taking your child home with you after the picnic, please find me when you are ready to leave and sign your child out on my clipboard.
  • If your child is staying at school, please find me at the end of the picnic and leave your child with me directly.
  • Any middle or high school siblings must already have a pre-arranged absence through the attendance office if you would like them to join you.
I look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Here are some pictures from St. Patrick's Day. While the class was at music, leprechauns snuck in, scattering green glitter everywhere. We found 5 hats, but even with the traps the kids made, we still couldn't catch a leprechaun!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

On Monday, we celebrated Dr. Seuss' 105th birthday!  We have been reading lots of his books and doing lots of rhyming activities.

On Monday morning, the kids went to 3 different "Cat in the Hat" stations.  At one station, they made red and white striped hats.  At the next station, the kids painted and put together a cat face.  At the the last station, they worked with me to make a page in a class book based on The Cat in the Hat

After specials, we read Green Eggs and Ham and cooked our own green eggs.  The kids tasted the eggs at lunch, then we graphed whether or not we liked them.  We even listened to a fun "Green Eggs" song from the Broadway musical "Seussical."

Here are some highlights from the day:

For more Dr. Seuss fun, check out www.seussville.com.  If you click on "playground," there are games for kids to play on-line and also printable activity pages.

Also, Buchholz High School Drama is presenting "Seussical the Musical."  Show times are Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm.
